- Industrial ComplexIndustrial Complex A small number of very large customers require service directly from the high-voltage transmission system. Transmission-level power is delivered to a substation that steps the voltage down for distribution and use throughout the complex or plant.
- Retail & SchoolsRetail & Schools Depending upon the size and load requirements of the facility, the large majority of schools (except for some very large universities) and retail facilities are served by distribution lines. A pad-mounted transformer is usually used to step the voltage down to 480/277 volts or 208/120 volts, depending upon the facility needs.
- Business & IndustryBusiness & Industry Most business and industrial customers are served by the three-phase distribution system. A transformer steps the voltage down to the required delivery voltage (usually 480/277 volts).
